HighVista Strategies is an employee-owned alternative asset manager that helps clients seek enduring and outsized alpha through investments in structurally inefficient markets.

Based in Boston and founded in 2004, HighVista manages $11 billion on behalf of sophisticated investors globally.

Our unique culture combines inquisitive thinking with rigorous discipline to find opportunities across public and private markets. We are a partner for investors looking outside the standard playbook for differentiated ideas that can amplify returns. HighVista’s investment strategies span private markets, including private credit, lower middle market private equity and early-stage venture capital; public markets, including biotechnology equities and hedged public markets strategies; as well as multi-strategy alternatives.

Firm Edge

Alpha Driven Focus

We are opportunistic and focused on finding less competitive and less efficient areas of the markets, which we view to be structurally attractive “ponds” to fish in. These areas require specialized skillsets to access and diligence.

Experienced and Networked

We have a long history of putting capital to work across a wide range of alternative investment opportunities. Over decades we have built a valuable network of partners, peer investors and other market participants, which significantly aid in our ability to uncover, source, and evaluate investments with a relative value mindset.

Flexible Structuring and Superior Execution

We seek to find the best way to build robust portfolios with flexibility to invest via joint ventures, co-investments, secondaries, special-purpose vehicles, primary funds and other bespoke arrangements. Our broad platform capability enables us to structure investment opportunities in a highly flexible and accretive fashion.

Alignment

We build strong alignment with our clients and investment partners alike. With meaningful personal investment alongside our clients, we foster a shared commitment to long-term success and a durable partnership with our investors.

Our History

HighVista was founded in 2004 by an experienced team with diverse backgrounds in alternative investments, principal investing, and academia.

The firm began investing on behalf of clients in 2005 with a commingled multi-asset class, multi-alternatives investment offering. This multi-asset class capability and portfolios continue to serve as the backbone to HighVista’s investment program.

We have steadily expanded our team and our specialized alternative offerings. Today HighVista offers investors multi-strategy alternative solutions as well as dedicated access to specialized alternative investment strategies, which are important components of the multi-asset class investment program. All investments share the singular focus of the pursuit of differentiated returns.

HighVista is owned by the firm’s partners and manages $11 billion on behalf of a wide range of sophisticated investors globally.

Our Team

We believe that exceptional businesses are predicated on having great people. Our culture emphasizes respect, integrity, rigorous thinking, hard work, and a continuous drive for excellence in process and results.
